How Our Established Funeral Home Started

As a teenager, Danny T. Williams, Sr. applied for a summer job at the old Poole Funeral Home in Slidell, LA, which turned into a dream of becoming a licensed funeral director/embalmer. After graduating from Slidell High School and completing a 4-year stint in the U.S. Navy, he attended Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston, TX and returned to Slidell, LA where he continued to work as an undertaker. In 1986, he and his wife, Adele, were given an opportunity to purchase a piece of land in Hickory, LA.

Giving Quality Funeral Services Since 1987

After much prayer, they decided to build the Williams Funeral Home in Hickory, LA as a promise kept to the Pearl River, LA community, which came true in February of 1987 when the doors opened. He also opened the cemetery on grounds known as, Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Danny ran the business until he was no longer able to due to illness. His daughter, also a graduate of Commonwealth, stepped up and began running the funeral home business, while Adele became Mr. Danny’s caregiver. After his death in 2011, his wife, daughter, and caring staff maintained the quality of service he has instilled since the beginning of our funeral home.
